Steve Jobs - Timeline of the former Apple CEO

Some key dates from the life and work of Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple who died on October 5th.



1955: Stephen Paul Jobs is born on Feb. 24.


1972: Jobs enrolls in Reed College in Portland, Oregon, but drops out after a semester.


1974: Jobs works for video game maker Atari and attends meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club with Steve Wozniak, a high school friend who was a few years older.





1976: Apple Computer is formed on April Fools' Day, shortly after Wozniak and Jobs create a new computer circuit board in a Silicon Valley garage. The Apple I computer goes on sale by the summer for $666.66.





1977: Apple is incorporated by its founders and a group of venture capitalists. It unveils Apple II, the first personal computer to generate color graphics. Sales soar to the rate of $1 million a year.


1979: Jobs visits Xerox PARC and is inspired by a computer with a graphical user interface.

1980: Apple goes public, raising $110 million in one of the biggest initial public offerings to date.



1981 :Jobs gives Bill Gates a demo of the Macintosh, and Gates agrees to develop software for it. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs disagree on the future of the computer, Gates believing in its business utility and Jobs believing in its benefit to common people.
The late Steve Jobs’ hatred and disdain for IBM is very well known. When the first IBM PC came out, Apple Flipped an add in the Wall Street Journal led with the text "Welcome IBM. Seriously." 


After his passing away, an old photo from the 80s made a re-appearance on the Internets. In this photo Steve Jobs appears to be showing the middle finger to an IBM logo engraved on the walls of an IBM building.this Fuels the Intense Fire even more.




1982: Annual sales climb to $1 billion.


1983: Steve Jobs Appoints John Sculley CEO of Pepsico Inc. to serve as Apple's CEO.


1984: Job Presents The Iconic "1984" Macintosh commercial directed by Ridley Scott shows during the Super Bowl. The Macintosh computer goes on sale.





1985: Clash of The Titans.
A Growing Turmoil Erupts as AppleApple executives start blaming him for the miscalculated forecasting of Mac sales .
Jobs and Sculley clash,Leading To Resignation of Jobs.Wozniak also resigns from Apple.
Dark Age of Apple !!



1986: Jobs Finishes Selling his Apple's Stock.Jobs then Starts Next Inc., a new computer company making high-end machines for universities.
He also buys Pixar of "StarWars"Creator George Lucas film's computer graphics group for a discounted price of $10 million.





1988: Apple sues Microsoft for copying their GUI, claiming the earlier agreement to use Mac tech in Windows only extended itself only to Windows 1.0.


1989: First NeXT computer goes on sale with a $6,500 price tag.


1991: Apple and IBM Corp. announce an alliance to develop new PC microprocessors and software. Apple unveils PowerBook portable Macintoshes.



1993: Apple introduces the Newton, a hand-held, pen-based computer.The company reports quarterly loss of $188 million in July, and CEO Sculley is replaced by Apple European Head Michael Spindler. Sculley Resigsns From as CEO.While "NEXT" After Realising the Fact of Getting Back Exists From "Hardware Manufacturing" and Foucses on "Software".Next Started building Operating System Which latter Laid Foundation For "MAC OSX".


1994:PowerMac 6100/60 comes out.


1995:Pixar's First animated Film "Toystory " Hits the Theatures. It Was The first ever feature film to be made entirely with CGI Which Revoultionised The Animation Film making.
In the Same Year Pixar Went For Ipo Raising $140 Million.


1996:Return of the King !
Apple buys Next for $430 million And 1.5 Million In Apple Shares to Jobs!
Gil Amelio replaces Michael Spindler as CEO of Apple.
Apple Celebrates 20th Anniversary,Releases New Products DVD player and TV tuner.


1997: Steve Jobs returns to Apple as an adviser, then "de facto head" of company; Amelio is pushed out.Jobs shuts down many projects, focusing on computers at Apple.


1998:Apple Retruns To profits.The Birth of First imac.Apple Soon Discontinued many Mac Clone Products And Also "Newton".

2000:

Jobs Becomes "Apple's CEO".Powermac Cube Comes Out.


2001:The Ipod Line Announced On October 23 And Released on November 23 2001.
OSX 10.00 Comes out,The modern Operating System Based On NEXT Software!!


2003:Apple launches the iTunes music store with 200,000 songs at 99 cents each, giving people a convenient way to buy music legally online. It sells 1 million songs in the first week.
Jobs discovers malignant tumor in his pancreas. It's a rare form of pancreatic cancer that can be cured. He tries 9 months of alternative medicine, unsuccessfully curing the cancer.





2004:Steve undergoes a surgery to remove a tumor in July and takes a month off to recover.

Shaking up the music industry: Jobs displays the iPod mini at the Macworld Conference and Expo in San Francisco on January.


2005:Apple announces Use of Intel Chips  inside of Macs.Apple Expands the iPod line with the tiny Nano and an iPod that can play video.

Jobs gives the commencement speech at Stanford, telling three stories, one about intuition and how h e went to college and what he learned from it despite dropping out. One was about his love for Apple and losing the company. And the last was about death and his experience with cancer. The video and transcript are widely available online and the most personal look we have at his life during his second era at Apple.




2006:Disney buys Pixar for $7.4 billion. Jobs becomes Disney's largest individual shareholder. He Becomes the member of Disney's Board of Directors.


2007:

Apple Releases its  First "Smart Phone " "iphone ".
Apple Launches "Apple Tv".


2008:

Macbook Air comes out.
Rumours Spread Around That job is Ill .Jobs Trashes All these In an Event Saying  "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated,"

2010:

Apple Announces "iphone4" in June.
Jobs Introduces new line of Products, new Apple TV, iPod Nano, iPod Touch, and iPod Shuffle in a Stage note in Jan 2010.



2011:

Ending years of anticipation, Apple and Verizon announced Tuesday that the iPhone 4 is coming to the largest wireless carrier in the U.S. on Feb. 10 at a starting price of $199.
On Jan. 17, 2011 Jobs announces a second medical leave with no set duration.In a memo to Apple employees, informing Apple that he'll be taking another medical leave of absence, though says he will "continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company." making Cheif Operating Officer "Tim Cook" as Incharge.
On August 24th, Steve Jobs announces his resignation as Apple CEO, moving to become the company's Chairman of the Board. He writes the following in a letter to the company:

I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Passing of The TITAN
On October 5, 2011: Jobs dies after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
