Disable Dr.Watson

Dr. Watson is an debugger in Microsoft Windows operating system.It is named after Doctor Watson character of Sherlock Holmes Books who was known for his intelligence and error collecting and analysing the case Helping holmes.

It is usually named drwatson.exe, drwtsn32.exe or dwwin.exe depending on the version of Windows.

When a error occurs on windows it detects and diagnoses program errors and pops a window showing the error,It is very useful as it alerts about the bugs and Rectifies it.But this may sometime quite irritating when ever it pops up suddenly.


Here is a Tip to disable the Dr.watson service

*Start the registry editor
Goto Start --> Run --> type "regedit.exe" and Hit enter.
*Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ AeDebug
*Click on AeDebug and click Del

or just set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ AeDebug \ AUTO to 0

To re-enable it, type: drwtsn32 -i at the run.

Speedup Your Folder Browsing

At one time or the other you might have noticed that when you open my computer to browse folders that there is a slight delay. This happens because Windows XP automatically searches for network files and printers everytime you open Windows Explorer. you can uncheck this search by following this step and increase your folder brwosing significally
follow this steps to speed up:
*Open My Computer
*Click on Tools menu
*Click on Folder Options
*Click on the View tab.
*Uncheck the Automatically search for network folders and printers check box
*Select Apply and  Click Ok
*Reboot your computer

Disable Windows XP login prompt for password

It annoys when you are the only one using the pc and you have to login everytime ,It promts you everytime u start the windows.
Here is a trick by which you can by pass the login prompt in windows xp ,just follow these steps and logon to computer without any halt.


*Click on Start-->Run.
*type "control userpasswords2"(without quotes) and Hit Enter.
*Uncheck the box for "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."
*Click Apply and then Ok.
*restart the windows.

In the previous post i presented you some of the general keyboard shortcuts ,Here are the some more keyboard shortcuts which helps to work easily and fastly with wordpad.

The following are the  keyboard shortcuts for working with WordPad.

Create a Shutdown/Reboot/LogOff Icon

Create your own icon for shutting ,restarting windows.

Windows xp has a program called shutdown.exe which allows to create a icon for shutdown.
To create an icon just follow the following steps:

1)Right click on an open area of the desktop
2)Select New -> Shortcut
For shutdown:
* Enter in shutdown -s -t 00
For Restart 
*Enter shutdown -r -t 00 
For Logging off
*Enter shutdown -l -t 00
Here 00 indicates the time in sec. e.g. 10- will shutdown PC after 10 sec
3)Press the Next button
4) name the shortcut as u wish .
5) Click on the Finish button.

Here -s shutdowns the computer
-r restarts
-l log offs
-a it aborts the shutdown
-f forces to close all applications
-t xx sets the timer to shutdown in certain no of seconds...xx =seconds ,say 20
