Microsoft's Internet Explorer Dips Below 50% In Global Market Share

Microsoft's Internet explorer dips under 50 % of global market share for the first time in history till now from the day it surpassed netscape . It has been a dominant web browser for over a decade .
This would be a loosing streak for internet explorer as per the same data ,just two years ago it had two thirds of market.It was tough time for ie as it encountering a serious heat of competition from its arch rivals mozilla's firefox and google's chrome. Especially It was badly affected by mozilla's firefox which had an impressive market share of 31.5%taking second .Google comes in third with 11.54%.

Chrome has shaken the market with its speed.Ie's share of the world wide market fell to 49.87 in september from 51.3% in august and 58.4 a year ago according to the reports of statcounter.
This is the first major challenge for internet explorer dominance ,since from the day it topped netscape which was the dominant browser in the 1990's .
In Europe, IE's market share dropped to 40.26% in September 2010 from 46.44% in September 2009. In North America, however, IE is still above 50% at 52.3% followed by Firefox at 27.21% and Chrome at 9.87%, even as the rise of Google Chrome in that market has been stellar. In June, Google Chrome overtook Safari for the first time.Inspite of the fall it still managed to be at top.

Ie ,firefox and google the top three browsers today hold a market share of over 92 % leaving the rest for smaller browsers like opera ,safari etc.

StatCounter bases its numbers on data collected across 15 billion page views per month from 3 million Websites.
