World IPv6 Day has Facebook, Google & Yahoo Support

Probably Everyone of us Might be Aware Of the fact that Internet s running out of IP addresses as more and more people and devices hook up to the Web Every day.

Every Host and Router on the Internet has Got an Ip address,Which Encodes its Network number .The combination is Unique ,No two macines On internet Have the Same ip.All these ip Are 32 bits .Network numbers are managed By a non profit corporation called ICANN.

some Millions Of networks are now Being connected to the internet and This number is Increasing Every second .Internet is Getting Its huge shape these days.slowly Internet is Running Out of Address in simple Terms It Stops Expanding .There are only a few billion public IPv4 addresses. Many of those addresses have already been allocated

Atpresent We are Following ipv4 .It is the mostly used Internetworking Protocol which is standardised in 1996. But experts warn that this space could be exhausted in a matter of months.
There is been a Slow Transition between ipv4 and ipv6 is going on,has Already taken years and is by no Means close to being finished.we Also have an intermediate ipv5 which was an experimental Real time stream protocol That was Never been used.
With the use ipv6 there is huge hope Of Having An enormous internet space.
The next generation of Internet addresses, IPv6, has 4billion times more space than the current network.

What Is Ipv6 ??

Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is a version of the Internet Protocol that is designed to succeed Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4).In ipv6 ,The ip Was Extenisvely modified To accomodate The huge Growth Of internet. The Format  and the Length of ip were changed. The next Generation ip has following Advantages over Traditional Ipv4
*Largest Address Space .ipv6 is 128 bits long where as ipv4 is 32 bits Address .which is A four fold increase in address space
The new address space supports 2128 (about 3.4×1038) addresses. This expansion provides considerable flexibility in allocating addresses and routing traffic. It also eliminates the primary need for network address translation (NAT), which gained widespread deployment as an effort to alleviate IPv4 address exhaustion.
*Multicast : these Additonal Functionality allows the Transmission of data packet to multiple Destinations with a single operation
*Allowance for Extension :it Is Designed To Allow the extension of protocol if req.by new Technologies or apps.
*support for More security

The Web gaints Facebook, Google and Yahoo are switching their websites to new Internet addresses in a 24-hour test to raise awareness of the critical shortage of capacity which is based on 64-bit addresses, and which will enable trillions more people and automated devices to successfully hook up to the Net using new IP addresses.
Its A big Step in the internet World .The three online giants, which together attract more than 1 billion visits a day, will transfer their sites to the next generation of internet addresses on June 8th, as experts warn that online capacity is running dangerously low.

According to The Internet Society, “The goal of the Test Drive Day is to motivate organizations across the industry - Internet service providers, hardware makers, operating system vendors and web companies - to prepare their services for IPv6 to ensure a successful transition as IPv4 addresses run out.”

On june 8th of this year Google, Facebook, Yahoo and Akamai will be switch on full IPv6 support on their main websites. It's being named as "World IPv6 Day," and it's the first full-scale test of the system, designed to see if the Net's infrastructure can successfully support it .On the Worl ipv6 day All our Internet Service Providers Manage The Configurations for the ipv6.
The World IPv6 Day is being co-ordinated by the Internet Society, a non-profit group which educates people and companies about net issues. It has provided a webpage through which people can test their Ipv6 readiness.checkout the test.
