Halley's comet

Halley comet is the most famous comet known for its short periods.
Halley is the one of the coment that is visible to naked eye which appears twice in a human lifetime.
Halley comet appeared in 9th feb 1986 during that period the japanese probe,soviet Vega1 and Vega 2 and the European space Agency's Giotto space probe passed close to Halley's Comet .
Astronomers then found that comet is made of dust held together by Water and carbondioxide. It is now understood that Halley's surface is largely composed of dusty, non-volatile materials, and that only a small portion of it is icy.
Halley comet appears next in 28 july 2061.
It was named in honour of British Astronomer Edmond Halley who was the first to prove that comets travel in orbits ,making it possible to predict when they will next be seen from earth.

He predicted the comet he saw in 1682 would return in 1759.
