Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country by the Gate committe on the behalf of National Coordinating Board – GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.
Gate exam is jointly conducted by seven IIT's and Indian institute of science.
Objective
The prime objective of exam to identify the Meritorious aspirants for post graduation in the fields of engineering,architecture .
Eligibilty
The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in Gate
*A bachelor Degree holder in Engineering ,Architecture,tech.(Be ,Btech) and those who are in final or pre-final year are eligible.
*Master degree holders in any branch of Science,mathematics,Statistics,Computer Applications and those who are in the final or prefinal year.
*Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.
Pattern
*3 hours examination which contains 65 questions 100 marks
*multiple choice
*incorrect answer carry negative marks(1/3)
*Availability of GATE forms: October, 1st week(submission of forms on or before nov 1st week)
* Exam Date: feb. 2011 2nd sunday
Scholar ship
While doing M.tech you are paid a scholarship of Rs. 5000.00 per month by the Government of India for living expenses including purchase of books, etc.
The scholarship is paid for the entire 18 months M.Tech period.
Score card
GATE 2010 results consist of marks obtained by the candidate, the GATE Score and All India Rank (AIR).results are announced on march 2011.
GATE score is valid Upto one year.
