Tablet PC for $ 35


India’s Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal recently revealed the prototype of a $35 touchscreen tablet device,which is India's first ipad like computer with fully Indian technology .
Mr.Kapil sibal launched this prototype on 31st of last month.


Aimed at students, the tablet supports web browsing, video conferencing and word processing, say developers.

Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said a manufacturer was being sought for the gadget, which was developed by India's top IT colleges.

Earlier cheap laptop plan was came forward by mit(Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to develop a laptop for $100 which eventually droped .


The newly revealed Linux-based $35 device, looks very similar to iPad, and feature 2 GB of memory, a USB port, and built-in Wi-Fi connectivity.

Apart from this, $35 computer has capability to run all essential software such as PDF reader, multimedia player and content viewer, video conferencing, Web browser, and word processor through Open Office.
The $35 tablet prototype from India, which was developed by research teams at IIT and the Indian Institute of Science, is expected to go into production by 2011.
